Calling all lovers of reading and writing! As summer slowly fades into fall, welcome the new season with On the Same Page Literary Festival, to be held on September 13th-17th in West Jefferson. An impressive line-up of authors includes Georgann Eubanks, Jeremy Hawkins, Charlie Lovett, Diane Chamberlain, Sarah Shaber, and Darnell Arnout, Kevin Morgan Watson, to name a few.
The festival includes a wide array of activities: readings, writing workshops, discussions, visual art, performance art, film, spoken word, etc. For instance, one event tied to the festival is the exhibit, “More Than Words,” an invitational exhibition of paintings, photography, and craft combined with the written word. The show will run September 7th - October 8th, and the opening reception to be held during the West Jefferson Gallery Crawl on Friday evening, September 9th, 5-8 p.m.
All festival events are open to the public. While most are free, some require reservations and/or tickets due to limited seating. There is also charge for the Literary Trails luncheon and On the Same Plate luncheon.
Festival events will take place throughout West Jefferson, including at the library, the Ashe Arts Center and local restaurants. The books of all authors will be available for purchase at all venues. More copies may be available for checkout at Ashe County Public Library.
