The Museum of Ashe County presents Ashe County Tours the second Saturdays of May through October. Each tour will be conducted by a knowledgeable guide who will share stories from the community and point out what makes each community unique as well as special architecture that is rooted in various time periods. The first tour starts with Grassy Creek.
This Van Tour leaves the Museum at 9:30 and travels to the community of Grassy Creek. Along the way, participants learn about the unique stone houses on 16, Shatley Springs, Healing Springs, the River House, and the wonderful past of Grassy Creek including the Virginia-Carolina School, one of only two schools built on a state line in the United States. The van will stop for lunch at Shatley Springs, not included in the price of the tour. Participants receive a full color guide with more information about the tour.
Seating is limited, reservations required.
