Sponsored by Friends of High Country State Parks, this “family friendly” canoe and kayak race proceeds go to the five area state parks. The cost to enter is $15 per person or $25 for a “family float”. Boats can start anytime between 9am-1:30pm. The first 200 registrants will receive a T-Shirt. After the race, enjoy food from the taco truck, music and activities at the New River State Park, Wagoner Access.
The mission of Friends of High Country State Parks is to enhance and perpetuate the High Country State Parks and State Natural Areas for the enjoyment and benefit of all the state’s people.
The 37th Annual New River Canoe Race will take place on June 2nd, 9 am. All proceeds go to support Friends of High Country State Parks’ mission to support our state parks.
The event will begin at Zaloo’s Canoes in Jefferson, NC and travel five miles to the Wagoner Road Access of the New River State Park. This route is calm with no white water.
