The Making of this Unique Community, Stonebridge
This one-of-a-kind community of log homes is nestled in the heart of the timeless Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in Ashe County between the towns West Jefferson and Boone, North Carolina.
The developers of Stonebridge created this mountain settlement by rescuing venerable old log cabins from across North Carolina and other states as far west as Colorado that would otherwise have been lost to progress. They disassembled the cabins then brought the logs to this mountain to create a haven for people who value the homespun tradition of passed Appalachia lifestyle.
The logs used in the construction; and some as large as 26-inches wide. Every home in Stonebridge was placed among native hardwoods or conifers for privacy. All have stone foundations, dry laid stone fireplaces, wood floors, shingled roofs, and natural lawns.
The homes are scattered over five-hundred acres of native hardwood, conifers, mountain laurel and other native flowering plants. Native mountain ferns and wildflowers grow freely adorning the natural lawns of Stonebridge homes.
Elevations began at 3,600 feet above sea level and went up to 4,600 feet on the highest ridges giving magnificent Blue Ridge Mountain views. You can find homes below the ridges that have crystal flowing streams with small waterfalls along the way. The developers built unique stone bridges to cross the streams, giving access to home-sites along the streams.
Live Peaceful with Nature and Wildlife
Stonebridge is a place where time stands still, where you forget the hustle and bustle of city life and nature abounds. There is an abundance of natural beauty to be found in this log home community.
It is a place where sunlight dances through the trees. Starlight twinkles in the night, smoke curls lazily from the chimneys on a cool spring morning, cool breeze fills the air and rocking chairs sit on friendly porches.
The log home development has been featured in several publications highlighting its uniqueness, including Blue Ridge Magazine. Stonebridge is secluded, mystical and enchanting.
