If you have not seen it already, there’s still time to experience this year’s production of “Horn In The West,” America’s oldest Revolutionary War drama, which runs through August 6th. The show takes place at the Daniel Boone Amphitheatr, renowned as one of the country’s most beautiful outdoor theatres.
Since its premier in 1952, “Horn in the West” has provided spectacular outdoor entertainment for all ages. The show centers on the area’s most well-known frontiersman- Daniel Boone, who, of course, is also the Blue Ridge Mountain town of Boone’s namesake. Highlighted in the production are his adventures in North Carolina’s High Country, and the role he and other local pioneers played in fighting for American independence from the British, including the Battle of Kings Mountain. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights you can see the show AND also enjoy a classic Southern meal catered by the well known. Dan’l Boone Inn.
While on the grounds of “Horn in the West,” check out the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum (http://www.hickoryridgemuseum.com), on the nearby Daniel Boone Native Gardens (http://danielboonenativegardens.org), which highlight the High Country's spectacular plant life.
