It’s that time of year again in Ashe County! For those who live here, you know that the Christmas holiday season is very special and kicks off early. On the third Saturday in November, the 19th, the holiday season officially commences in West Jefferson with the first of Ashe County Farmers “Holiday Markets” and the West Jefferson Holiday Parade.”
The holiday markets offer many specialty items to ring in the season such as fresh, local wreaths and handmade greenery, homemade baked goods, popcorn, skincare items, local jams, jellies, and honey. What’s more, Ashe County’s famed local artisans will be offering great gift ideas to choose from such as handcrafted pottery, wood crafts, hand-knitted scarves, hats and mittens, jewelry and photography.
Stick around in West Jefferson that same day and catch the Annual Holiday Parade, from 3:00pm – 5:00pm. You’ll witness locals bands, dance groups, church groups, local business folks, fire/rescue trucks, police cars and more community members participating and marching in this fun-filled holiday event.
