Summer is here, and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than to take advantage of the many activities taking place in West Jefferson. Here’s a few of this season’s main events:
30th Annual Christmas in July Festival

Thousands flock to this beloved festival in historic downtown West Jefferson every July! This free-admission event features traditional mountain music, regional arts & crafts and also celebrates the farm-grown Christmas Tree industry for which Ashe County is renowned. Highlights include a civil war re-enactment, great live music and a variety of food vendors.
West Jefferson Downtown Gallery Crawl
Friday, July 8th
5pm - 8pm
Check out over 17 galleries, studios and shops showcasing the latest artwork by Ashe County’s top artists. Works include: paintings, photography, pottery, stained glass, quilts & fiber arts, jewelry, weavings, furniture, handcrafted, original fine arts and master crafts. Crawlers are invited to stroll the streets, visit the galleries, view the downtown murals and take advantage of the downtown restaurants.
Back Street Concert Series
It’s back! West Jefferson’s FREE summer concert series held every 3rd & 4th Friday nights NOW through August from 5:30pm - 7:00pm.
Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets or picnics to listen to the sounds of traditional, old time, and bluegrass music that reflects the homegrown music of the region.
