The first Tourism Expo happened on April 22 at Boondocks Brew Hause in downtown, West Jefferson.
The event, sponsored by the Ashe County Chamber of Commerce’s Coolest Corner, highlighted many businesses and institutions that contribute to the successful promotion of tourism in the County.
Well attended, the Expo provided information about the businesses and organizations that are directly involved in attractions, events and entertainment that draw visitors to our beautiful area.
Attractive tables and booths were displayed by organizations such as North Carolina State Parks, Ashe County Parks & Recreation, the Museum of Ashe County History, the Ashe County Public Library, the Town of Lansing, Todd Community Preservation Society, Ashe County Arts Council and the New River Conservancy.
Also in attendance were businesses such as Wahoo’s Adventures Rafting, Todd Mercantile, Riverside Canoe & Tubing Rental, and Boondock’s. Chamber members and local business representatives attended the event.
Intended to become a bi-annual event held each spring and fall, the Tourism Expo will continue to provide a conduit between tourism and local businesses for the future. Refreshments and tapas dishes were provided by Boondocks with the Chamber and supporting vendors providing door and raffle prizes.
The Expo proved to be a success for the Chamber and all involved.
