This is a not to be missed early Christmas concert in Ashe County, featuring amazing musicians and singers who will get you in the spirit for the holidays!
This 2017 edition of JSMHM's annual Celtic Christmas Concert has all the ingredients for the making of an outstanding evening of traditional holiday music from Ireland, Scotland and America! The phenomenal Finn Magill, a fiddler/violinist who by 16 was a two-time finalist at the All-Ireland fiddle championships, will be featured in this concert. n 2011 he produced a Fulbright-MtvU funded concept album about AIDS with Afro-vibes artist from Malawi Peter Mawanga. He currently leads his own quartet of Brazilian choro, O Finno, and is a founding member of Violino no Choro.
Finn will be joined by his good friend, Dave Curley, a multi-instrumentalist, singer and dancer from Corofin, Co. Galway. David has been making big waves in the Irish music scene in Ireland, Europe and the USA in the last number of years.
Finn is from Asheville, and knows Mark Weems and Julee Glaub from their summers spent at the Swannanoa Gathering. Mark and Julee, who perform as "Little Windows", are no strangers to the JSMHM stages - having been a long-time friend of Mountain Home Music founder Joe Shannon. Mark is a multi-instrumentalist, playing banjo, guitar, and dulcimer. Julee, who learned traditional Irish singing during her seven-year stay in Dublin, often sings solo or accompanies the duo on the Irish drum. The two focus on the art of the pure voice with tight harmonies and often sing a cappella. They will be sure to include songs from their Christmas CD - The Snowman's Waltz.
